    Day 12 - February 5th (6hrs)

Day 12 of my mentorship with Warubi was my first time working as a scout. Originally, I was scheduled to start creating my scouting profile this coming week, but some unexpected things happened which is why I already had my first day as a scholarship scout a week early. One of my former teammates from Liberty University told me that he is planning on transferring to start his MBA. He is currently back in Canada and is not sure if he wants to come back to the US 100%. Having the knowledge of what Warubi offers, I thought that we would be the perfect fit for him. Having the pay-later option for transfers, I connected with my mentor Herbert and had a discussion with him about pitching the package to my friend, and he gave me the go. I started with writing a script for the phone call, including important questions that need to be answered for the evaluation process. Some of the key topics included highlight-videos, full game film, budget, transcripts and current status on the transfer portal. Once the script was finished, I went on the call with my client. The call went pretty well, and I was able to explain what Warubi stands for and what we can offer to him. The situation of the player fits extremely well with what we offer, as he does not know if he really wants to come back. The pay-later package will allow him to only pay the fee if he decides to successfully sign with a school. Otherwise, there is no fee for him. The call lasted for roughly 2 hours. After the call was finished, I created a summary document for Herbert and connected with him afterwards to go over the recruiting call and to get an overview of the player and his current situation. The next step will be to properly evaluate his placement chances through a company internal tool and give feedback to him. If he decides to work with us, we will start with creating his profile.

Mentorships, as well as internships, are an extremely valuable tool for students to prepare for the real world.
