Day 21 - March 3rd (8hrs)

Today was a very intense workday. As part of me being a scout for Warubi and Athletes USA, I need to think about different ways on how to market myself. I spend some time coming up with a social media strategy where I narrowed down the most important channels that I need to use in order to reach the target market that I desire to reach. After a call with my mentor Herbert, I decided that creating a specific Instagram scouting profile as well as a website where I post blogs about the life of a student athlete in the United States are the two best ways to market myself as a scout. Instagram is one of the most prominent social media channels used by people aged between 16 and 24 back home in Germany as well as in the United States. My target market are players back home in Germany that are finishing up high-school as well as current student athletes in the U.S. that might want to transfer. Instagram will be the best way to reach those players, and through the initial contact I can lead them to my website which will help in the recruiting process of the athlete. Having a detailed and personalized experience with first hand reporting from current and previous athletes will help players to gain those last 10%-15% confidence to actually take the step and start the process. Out of my personal experience, I know how important it is to speak to people that have been in the same situation as yourself. I started working towards creating my blog. First, I had to come up with a fitting domain, as well as choosing the right CMS for my blog. I looked into WordPress, since many current scouts of Warubi are using this CMS tool. After looking into it and watching some tutorials, I decided to not go with WordPress. I went with weebly instead, which seemed to be more user friendly and provided me with more guidance and help in setting up my initial website. I went with the domain of soccerscholarships-usa.wixsite.com. I finished creating the website including the homepage and general outline of the website. I will be working towards creating some blog posts and further designing my blog tomorrow.
