    Day 24 - March 11th (4hrs)

Today was more of a strategic planning day rather than executing or learning things. The workday started off with a phone call with my Mentor Herbert. We were catching up about both our weeks and he updated me on the news within Warubi. There are a couple of very interesting projects that the company is working on within their careers and events are of business. One major area that the company is investing in right now are foreign soccer academies for American players. Herbert explained to me the details of how these programs are created from the first initial contact to the final product. It was extremely interesting and it helped me to understand the internal processes that are going on in creating a project like this. The second half of the call was all about my marketing and business strategy of being a scout. I updated Herbert on what I came up with so far and let him look at the website I created, although it is far from being finished. The outline is looking fine, but there are some major changes that need to be made. A major project that I will be working on from now on will be to distinguish a strategy for the U.S. and for Europe. I will be creating another homepage in German to specifically cater towards my clients in Germany. The content needs to be different as the cultures are different and additionally, the whole process from recruiting to actual being eligible is completely different for German players and players from the United States. After the call, I started working on my strategies, first for the U.S. The biggest challenge is to find out 20-30 key topics that I am interested in that will also benefit the players I want to reach. This task is extremely difficult as there are several factors going into it. I was already thinking ahead into my marketing strategy, looking into ways on how to actually reach the players. Herbert kind of took me a step back, as he mentioned that the website needs to stand first before anything can be published, which is why the actual content strategy plan is so important, including to lay out the topics I want to write about. I will also need to consider creating videos, like interviews with former or current players either on the college or professional level, which will help potential clients to understand the process first hand.

Mentorships, as well as internships, are an extremely valuable tool for students to prepare for the real world.
